What if I didn’t just post quick pictures to Twitter?
Printing
I continue to ponder the idea of transforming a .stl
file (or whatever) from being a single hero to multiple parts which can be printed without supports then glued together.
I started collecting notes about this in a .md
sort of reaserach paper - as I would for anything else.
Someone then pointed out that Adobe’s MeshMixer may be able to do this manually - but the tool’s website isn’t available right now.
Watching
I watched the latest NJM video. Marco (?) goes over some lighting steps, and then a classical technique for colouring flesh.
I’d really like to revist this approach - so I’m noting it here.
Painting
I want to get red leather and shaded bone and hoof … and I’m going to give up and use TMM for the breastplate and gauntlets.

Description of Work
I started on the CowGuard off with “Umber Wash” on the horns and hooves. I mixed it with water and did an “all over” then came back with thicker layers as a sort of panel lining and the tips. I mixed “Red Wash” and “Red Ink” and applied it over the leather areas. The Red Wash has a much messier colour and the Red Ink is more vibrant. Some of the straps on the armour weren’t as solidly coated as I meant to so I came back with the Umber Wash and the hope that I won’t notice the detail.
The “Gunmetal” paint I’m using is as poor as I remember - but that could be because I mixed it 1:1 with flow enhancer before I started. I’m hoping that if I apply further coats tomorrow it’ll even out. For now I’m calling it “a start” while I try to decide what colour to paint the cape and do for finishing touches.
